Its history

It all began on Christmas Eve 1856, in the church of the parish of Saint-André de la Guillotière in the poor suburbs of Lyon, with Antoine CHEVRIER's conversion in front of the cot of the Infant Jesus.

The Maison Saint André is a 17th century bourgeois house acquired by Prado in 1872. It was transformed by Father Chevrier to house an extension of the clerical school founded in the "Salle du Prado" (in La Guillotière, Lyon) with the First Communion series.

It has built a chapel and a building along the road with a courtyard, classrooms and two dormitories.

The Manuscripts of Father Chevrier

Father Antoine Chevrier left us a number of manuscripts, which are kept at the Maison du Prado Saint-André. These archival documents are not accessible to the public due to their fragility.

However, Father Yves Musset (+2012) has made the thought of the founder of Prado accessible to many. He has compiled a scientific inventory and carried out numerous studies of these documents. His writings are aimed at both the lay public and researchers, thanks to his critical studies. This work remains to be continued.
